Mrs. Stechschulte

B.S. Elementary Education / Kindergarten Certification

Question: Why did you choose the teaching profession?
Answer: “The preschool age child is a package of pure energy, spontaneity, and curiosity. Play is their work, and I love to play, sing, explore, move, and discover too! There is never a dull moment in the life of a preschooler, always learning and absorbing. It is my passion to reach our young with the love, truth, and treasure of our Lord Jesus Christ and His world. Teaching is a joy for me, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.”

Mrs. Atkins

M.A. Teaching / Elementary Education /
B.A. Women’s Ministries and Counseling

Question: What is it that you enjoy about the kindergarten age child?
Answer: “I love seeing the huge developmental strides that kindergarten students make from August to May! The wonderful ‘light bulb’ moments when a child truly grasps a concept are some of the most rewarding and exciting aspects of teaching. I love the smile and sense of accomplishment on a child’s face when he realizes he can achieve something he thought he couldn’t. I love that kindergarten students, literally, learn something new every day!”

Mrs. Boom

B.S. Learning Foundations / Early Childhood Emphasis

Question: What do you look forward to each day as you meet your students?
Answer: “I look forward to seeing my students each morning as I greet them at our classroom door. I love seeing their smiling faces as we say, ‘Good Morning!’, to each other and get started with our morning work. We always have a time for sharing stories and exciting events that have taken place during our ‘Morning News’ time. It is the best way to start my day!”

Mrs. Smith

Question: Why did you choose the teaching profession?
Answer: “The teaching profession was a natural choice for me, because it has always been effortless for me to connect with younger children. The preschool age is amazing- they’re so open to learning, I find great joy in having the privilege to teach and nurture them- spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. I love the challenge of creating a learning environment where children feel safe, secure, and confident in their ability to learn. I count it a blessing to be able to say, ‘I love what I do!’ ”

Miss Fickbohm

Question: What is it that you enjoy about your students?
Answer: “I love the way children are like sponges when it comes to learning. They are so eager to learn and discover new things about their world. When the light bulbs go off in their little head, look out! You never know how far it will take them! ”

Question: What do You look forward to each day as you meet your students?
Answer: “Each morning, I look forward the students' eager eyes and smiling faces. I chose teaching because of the opportunity to invest in the future. It it their fresh look on the world around them that I enjoy the most.”

Mrs. Stacionis

National Board Certification

Question: Why did I choose the teaching profession?
Answer: “When I was little, my favorite book was The Little Engine that Could. There was something about the engine saying, ‘I think I can, I think I can...’ that caught my interest. My favorite teacher, Miss Georgi, was my inspiration. She thought I could do most anything, and before I knew it, I thought so, too. As I have become a seasoned teacher, many books have become my ‘favorite’. I am so greatful to be able to share my love of my books and stories with my little students. Who knows what they can do? What a pleasure to have the job of promoting rich language skills and beginning literacy concepts every day! ”

Mrs. Wegner

Question: What do you look forward to each day as you meet your students?
Answer: “The best part about meeting my students each day is that their contagious energy spreads around the room instantly. They bring such happiness, curiosity, and honesty with them each morning. It is impossible not to smile all day when you are with such wonderful, happy children!”

Mrs. Mershon

Question: What do you enjoy most about the preschool aged child?
Answer: “Children of this age group are always so very loving, energetic, and curious. This combination lends itself to an array of teaching, including hands-on activities and read-aloud stories. In this type of environment, the children are able to explore, question, and discover varying topics with an innocence that is only found in the preschool-aged child. I fully enjoy watching them discover new ideas with an exuberant attitude. They constantly remind me how amazing it is to observe something for the first time!”

Mrs. Andre

M.S. Psychology / B.A. Psychology / Currently pursuing an Education Degree

Question: What do you enjoy most about the preschool aged child?
Answer: “I love working with preschoolers because they are blank slates and absorbant sponges. The brain is still being physically developed and the personality is still being formed. What a realm of influence the preschool teacher has! I take what I do very seriously. It’s a joy to help instill the love of of learning and the love of God in these little people. ”
